ZT2 Download Library Wikia(Click here)OriginThe ZT2 Download Library Wikia started a week ago as an option for a Zoo Tycoon 2 Download Encyclopedia, an idea put forward by TheLastPanthera in. As many options arose, we decided it was best to make a poll and see the public's preferences.
In this context, ADHO15 created a wikia example called ZT2 Download Library Wikia to see its advantages and disadvantages in comparison to using other options, and more people soon joined and started adding content to the Wikia.Today we can say we really like the way the wikia works, and that it won the poll with 43% of votes.AboutThe ZT2 Download Library Wikia is a database for downloads, designers and design teams. Our aim is to make an easy but also interesting and diverse way of searching for downloads. Just search Lion or Panthera leo at the top of the page. Want some deer? Go to the Deer subcategory where all species of deer are listed. Maybe you are making an Aquarium, then let's look for aquatic animals, including cetaceans, pinnipeds, fish, aquatic birds and marine invertebrates. Or maybe you are making an Asian section of your zoo?
Search for Asian Animals and see all of them at once. How about a jungle zoo? Search for Tropical Rainforest Animals. And let's not forget dinos. They are categorized in the same way, but making sure you won't run into extinct animals when looking for living ones, or viceversa. Then how about all downloads made by a certain designer?
Find them easily on their profile page or under 'Downloads by Creator'.This is all done with outmost respect to designers and forums. Downloads come with a link to where they can be found in a forum or website where the designer uploaded them, but no direct links are allowed. Our goal is to make it easier to find downloads that designers spent a lot of work on and released to the public.Help neededIf you look at our wikia, it still has very little content. If you want to join you are very welcome! Anonymous editors can be very helpful, but knowing who is working on what is useful to make sure that two people are not adding the same page! Maybe you want to add fences to the wikia? Maybe you want to work on extinct animal categories? Would you like to be in charge of adding antelopes or designer profiles?Anything else?We're open for suggestions or any questions you might have about the wikia. As a loingtime member of the community, I've seen a half-dozen 'download databases' over the years, usually hosted on IF or ZB, that quickly die out once the staff loses interest - and it'll get nauseating to see every half-finished database only include a couple sites.
The idea of opening a full Wikia with open-source editing to house a download library is fantastic, and I've always been a huge advocate of Wiki systems - serious kudos on this, guys. I'll make sure to pop in and add some edits and downloads as I can!If it's cool I'll put a note over at ZT2DC sometime. We just hit 1,000 pages at the ZT2 Download Library!It might seem like a lot, but we still have a lot of work to do. Why not join our team and start helping?
